Tom Day’s music
Tom Day is a solo artist residing in Main Ridge, Australia and has been creating ambient and electronic music since 2005. He makes brilliant bits of down tempo, organic and ambient electronic music. His music is packed with emotions. It will give you a sense of nostalgia and you will wonder how can a piece of music can make you feel so much at the time.
He did not have any formal training in music. His music is characterized as effortless and raw. His tracks mostly include elegant beats and piano melodies. He mostly got influenced from cinematic music like the ones from Hans Zimmer.
What does his music make me feel ?
One of his song is PEAKS. It makes me imagine various good and bad moments of my life. I think he uses repetition of the tune and stretching it till the highest point which creates a monotonous feeling of growing through a phase and then he suddenly releases the stretch and matches it with the continuous base theme which reminds me the good times.
Another such music is CROSSROADS. The start of the music has sounds of footsteps approaching making me feel like I am going to some new place and thus disconnecting with the real surrounding. There is a sudden break from the intro music and there a soothing melody being played as if you are observing the place you are and trying to understand whats going on here. Then he repeats it along with a beat creating a sense of everything settling down and you begin to fit in with music and become its part.
